I am currently watching " Monarchy" on Netflix and enjoying it very much. I hope I find other entertaining and educational shows on there as well. I see Tudors is on there as well. ( that is what started this great adventure). If anyone has any recommendations for me to look for, please share. Thank you.

Hi Seagrl, do you have any other subscriptions besides Netflix (Hulu, Amazon, YouTube) and are you looking specifically for Tudor related subjects or anything historical in a certain time period?

If you just have Netflix I highly recommend Elizabeth I: The Virgin Queen 2005 and Elizabeth R 1971, both are historical drams and I also love The Tudors but these are much more historically accurate. The Monarchy series are awesome, I'm a big fan of David Starkey!

Whilst I personally detest his political persona, his presentation style both for documentaries and in book are very user friendly, easy to understand and follow, almost informal. Great at what he does, that is for sure.

Thomas Penn's "The Winter King" is very good-it deals mainly with HVII's later years. If you like good historical fiction, please see "The Shadow Of the Tower"-both are on Youtube.

Nethen have you seen the Keyboard Cat David Starkey mash? www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTrNltWhvqIDr. Starkey is brilliant and does put his information in a direct and engaging manner but he isn't popular with the remarks he's come out with during various interviews regarding current politics. He's in the mock trial of Richard III that BBC did in the 80's and it's entertainment in itself watching him during his cross examination. His colleague sitting in the background tried very hard during the whole thing not to crack up!

Thanks for the replies. I subscribed to Hulu today. I started watching Elizabeth I, 2005 on Netflix. I will certainly look at Youtube for Winter King and " Shadow of the Tower. I am interested in time frame from Henry II to Elizabeth I. Thanks again!

Hulu has "Pure History Specials" and "Pure History Features" which have several documentaries, "Killer Queens" which covered Mary I, Empires: Martin Luther... I find most by searching by network and BBC & PBS usually offer the most. I can't remember if I posted my YouTube library but I have tons of stuff on there www.youtube.com/user/jamazoncat75/videos?flow=grid&view=1

The Virgin Queen with Anne-Marie Duff is my personal favorite, and is historically the most accurate one I have watched.

I LOVE "The Virgin Queen", not just for it's historical accuracy but for the fantastic acting and personality Anne-Marie Duff shines through as Elizabeth I and as I imagine the Virgin Queen to have been like. According to Wikipedia (which I always try to back up with a corresponding source) here are some of the historical inaccuracies but I find them few: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Virgin_Queen_(TV_serial)#Historical_accuracy"In the film, Elizabeth meets with Lettice Knollys after a long estrangement. In fact, Elizabeth snubbed Lettice, although Essex arranged the meeting. Elizabeth died standing up in the movie. In reality, she was persuaded to lie on a pile of cushions, then later to proceed to her bed, where she died. In the film Cardinal Pole is seen leading the redundant Catholics from court following Mary I's death. This is grossly inaccurate as Pole died only hours after Mary and had been bedridden for days." I have to say that although more outdated "Elizabeth R" with Glenda Jackson was very accurate historically (with the exception of the controversial meeting between Mary Queen of Scots and herself). Enjoy watching! I absolutely love the intro song done on the Virgin Queen by Medievial Babes taken from the poem Elizabeth I wrote. www.elizabethi.org/contents/pastimes/poems.htm
